The Call of Duty League have made great improvements when it comes to challengers in the 2023 season. With more teams competing at Champs, and the Grand Finals taking place on the main stage, we saw Team OMiT take on Team Notorious ahead of the CDL Champs Grand Finals, with OMiT coming out on top in an 4-1 victory.

OMiT came into this Grand Finals series through the Winners Bracket, but they were arguably underdogs in the matchup. However, the team of Adam ‘GodRx’ Brown, Isaiah ‘Gwinn’ Gwinn, Evan ‘Purj’ and Christain ‘Yeez’ Faircloth came out swinging with a 250-132 victory in the Map one Fortress Hardpoint. This was a comfortable win that saw Gwinn dominate the map, putting up 29k/19d in an incredible performance that put the OMiT team 1-0 up in Challengers Grand Finals.

OMiT went on to extend their lead in the series to 2-0 with a 6-4 Search and Destroy win on El Asilo. Yeez was the main slayer here, with a massive 12 kills to top the leaderboard and put OMiT firmly in the driving seat of this series.

Yeez took this incredible Search and Destroy performance into the El Asilo Control for map three, where he dominated with 21 kills and just 14 deaths for a 1.50 K/D in this 3-0 map three victory. GodRx also topped the leaderboard going 22k/12d himself for a 1.83 K/D with the AR. This was an incredibly dominant map from OMiT as they held down the points and took out the lives of Team Notorious efficiently, putting themselves on series point.

Team Notorious finally got themselves on the board with a 250-236 victory on Hotel Hardpoint. Team Notorious held down the second rotation flawlessly with an incredible Kitchen point hold, seeing EriKBoom dominate in the hill with nearly three minutes in the Hardpoint as Team Notorious worked together for the win, and took the series score to 3-1.

OMiT went on to take the series in a 6-2 victory on Hotel Search and Destroy, with Purj dominating the leaderboard with 10 kills in the final map of the series. This was an excellent performance from OMiT, a roster that features four incredibly promising players that could be in the CDL next season.
